Σήμερα είναι η επίσημη πρώτη μέρα της Άνοιξης! Ας ελπίσουμε να ανθίσει και η Κύπρος μας!

Αρκετοί πιστεύουν ότι η Άνοιξη μπαίνει με τον ερχομό του μήνα Μάρτιου, εγκυκλοπαίδειες όμως ορίζουν την Άνοιξη αλλιώς.

Σήμερα 20 Μαρτίου, στη μία το μεσημέρι (συγκεκριμένα στις 13:02 ώρα Κύπρου ή 11:02 ώρα Γκρίνουιτς) αρχίσε και επίσημα η Άνοιξη του 2013 στο βόρειο ημισφαίριο, στο οποίο ανήκει και η χώρα μας.

Η αρχή της άνοιξης, από αστρονομική πλευρά, συμπίπτει με την εαρινή ισημερία, όταν η διάρκεια της ημέρας και της νύχτας είναι ίσες. Από σήμερα και στο εξης οι ημέρες θα μεγαλώνουν σταδιακά, ώσπου να φθάσουν στο αποκορύφωμά τους φέτος κατά το θερινό ηλιοστάσιο στις 21 Ιουνίου.

Τα στατιστικά στοιχεία δείχνουν ότι στον 20ό αιώνα η 21η Μαρτίου ήταν μάλλον η εξαίρεση παρά ο κανόνας ως η πρώτη μέρα της άνοιξης. Η εαρινή ισημερία έλαβε χώρα στις 21 Μαρτίου μόνο κατά τα 36 από τα 100 έτη του προηγούμενου αιώνα, σύμφωνα με το Space.com.

Στην Ευρώπη, η τελευταία φορά που η άνοιξη ξεκίνησε στις 21 Μαρτίου, ήταν το 2007 και κάτι τέτοιο δεν θα ξανασυμβεί έως το έτος 2102.

Υπάρχουν διάφοροι αστρονομικοί λόγοι που η άνοιξη δεν έχει σταθερή ημερομηνία εκκίνησης και οι εποχές δεν έχουν ίδια διάρκεια ούτε μεταξύ τους, ούτε οι ίδιες διαχρονικά. Έτσι, σήμερα, στο βόρειο ημισφαίριο ο χειμώνας διαρκεί 88,99 μέρες (λιγότερες από όλες τις εποχές), η άνοιξη 92,76 μέρες, το καλοκαίρι 93,65 μέρες (περισσότερες από όλες τις εποχές) και το φθινόπωρο 89,84 μέρες. Αθροιστικά, οι ζεστές μέρες του έτους (άνοιξη και καλοκαίρι) είναι περίπου 7,5 μέρες περισσότερες από τις ψυχρές (φθινόπωρο και χειμώνας).

Ήδη η διάρκεια της άνοιξης μειώνεται περίπου με ρυθμό ενός λεπτού ανά έτος, ενώ ο χειμώνας μειώνεται κατά περίπου μισό λεπτό ετησίως. Αντίστροφα, η διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού μεγαλώνει με ετήσιο ρυθμό ενός λεπτού (αυτό που χάνει η άνοιξη), ενώ του φθινοπώρου αυξάνει κατά μισό λεπτό (αυτό που χάνει ο χειμώνας). Το έτος 3500 περίπου, εκτιμάται ότι η διάρκεια του χειμώνα θα έχει φθάσει στο μικρότερο δυνατό σημείο (88,71 μέρες).
